How the House is funded
Since its beginning, the House has been fortunate to have a number of outstanding partners. In spite of their support, however, we must constantly seek funding sources, through individuals as well as local, provincial and national companies to help us meet the needs of the families. This financial support is received in the form of cash or goods and services helps us to offer as much comfort as possible to those who stay here.
The House’s funding sources come from rent money, membership in the Foundation, cash donations, product and services donations, investments, and fundraising activities. The Houses do not receive any financial support from the government.
The Ronald McDonald Houses are proud of their partnership with McDonald’s restaurants. McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada, their owner-operators and Ronald McDonald House Charitiescontribute a generous amount of funding to the Canadian Houses. Every year, Ronald McDonald House Charities give each House a cheque for $226 350 on behalf of McDonald’s Restaurants, thanks to the Happy Meal program. Special funding is also offered for important re-location or expansion projects.
The Happy Meal Program
Since January 2004, every McDonald’s Restaurant in Canada gives Ronald McDonald House Charities ten cents for every Happy Meal sold. To date, this contribution has raised more than 23.3 million dollars.
Friends of the House
