Reasons for the reconstruction
The FONDATION DES AMIS DE L’ENFANCE (MONTRÉAL) INC. relocated the Ronald McDonald House to allow the CHU Sainte-Justine Hospital to begin a major development project for the construction of a specialized research center and care units for mothers and children.. This relocation was done in collaboration with the Sainte-Justine Hospital.
Why an expansion?
Considering the rising demand for lodging due to the future expansion of the CHU Sainte-Justine and the growing number of families we have had to turn away in the past three years (1,000 nights refused), the Board of Directors of the Foundation, to help solve this problem, decided to increase the capacity of the New House to 50 rooms total, by adding 15 additional bedrooms.
The new House is located at 5800 Hudson Road, at the corner of de Soissons St., just behind the CHU Sainte-Justine in a residential area.
Both Ronald McDonald Houses in the province of Quebec (Montreal and Quebec City) underwent some major changes in order to be able to respond to the growing need for accommodations.
The Montreal and Quebec City Ronald McDonald Houses are uniting their efforts and have launched a major fundraising campaign. The goal is to raise 17 million dollars. The funds collected will make it possible to rebuild the Montreal House and increase its capacity from 35 to 50 rooms and also cover the expansion costs of the Quebec City House from 19 to 30 rooms.
